MOYA WINS THE GCNS APEX SUSTAINABILITY AWARD
18 November 2019
Moya Holdings Asia Limited (MHAL), an SGX Catalist-listed company, was announced the winner of the prestigious 2019 Apex Corporate Sustainability Award in the Sustainable Solutions category. MHAL is the largest clean water provider in Indonesia.
The award was presented at the Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards 2019 (2019 Awards) gala dinner which was held on 6 November 2019 at Parkroyal Pickering. Singapore Education Minister, Mr Ong Ye Kung, was the guest of honour.
The annual award is organised by Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS), the local chapter of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). The award is given for excellence in corporate sustainability. Winners are selected after rigorous evaluation and judging by industry experts and business leaders.
“Moya’s mission is to invest in projects with wide social impacts and look beyond financial returns. We are a firm believer that providing solutions and helping our communities are key to our success. Moya launched our sustainability strategies in 2016 and made it our core business efforts.
A corporate culture of sustainability is a source of competitive advantage in the long run with key focus on how water is to be managed as a shared resource and how local stakeholders can be more actively involved. Moya is honoured to be receiving the Sustainable Solutions Award from the Singapore Apex Corporate Sustainability Awards. We commit to sustainable business practices in managing our resources and developing our businesses.” said Mr Mohammad Syahrial, Chief Executive Officer, Moya Holdings Asia Ltd.”
MHAL has been advised by Capital Governance (S) Pte Ltd (Capital Governance) on its sustainability reporting and training since 2017.
“We would also like to thank Capital Governance. We could not have done it without your valuable support and resources to our management and staff,” added Mr Syahrial.
“We are honoured and humbled to be associated with MHAL and to see the group win this award. When we embarked on their sustainability reporting advisory work in 2017, we partnered with a most professional and committed team at MHAL, which enabled us to showcase many of their already impressive sustainability initiatives in their inaugural sustainability report in 2017. The reporting effort was underpinned by a management that recognised the opportunities to embed and enhance continuous sustainability-thinking across the group,” said Mr Paul R. Chan, Principal, Capital Governance.
“After the second year of sustainability reporting, it was clear to us that MHAL had a compelling narrative to share with GCNS. MHAL was bringing not only very significant water infrastructure to Indonesia, it was also taking the lead in new technology adoption and making very impactful community contributions. MHAL is a shining exemplar of corporate sustainability.”
Other 2019 Awards winners included Changi Airport Group, Banyan Tree Holdings Limited and Matex Industries Limited.
